KOSGEB President Prof.Dr. Cevahir Uzkurt participated in the “Ulttyk Onim 2019” exhibition in Kazakhstan.

The cooperation between KOSGEB and the Kazakhstan Entrepreneurship Development Fund (DAMU) was a step further, In the scope of the action plan signed earlier in order to ensure cooperation between SMEs in Turkey and Kazakhstan, President of KOSGEB Prof. Dr. Cevahir Uzkurt participated the exhibition "I Onida Ulttyk 2019".

In the fair, KOSGEB President Cevahir Uzkurt and the heads of SME support institution of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan evaluated the SMEs situation and emphasized the importance of cooperation. 10 Turkish SMEs in the field of retail food, automotive spare parts, electronics industry, textile, medical, chemical, leather and wood products, who participated in the fair together with the KOSGEB delegation, held business meetings with Kazakh counterparts.

Bilateral Meetings

Cevahir Uzkurt, President of KOSGEB held bilateral meetings with KOBIA President Orhan Mammadov, DAMU Chairman Buribayeva Gaukhat Asylbekovna, Baiterek National Administrative Holding CEO Aidar Arifkhanov, Kazakexport CEO Ruslan Iskakov and former President of DAMU / Kazakhstan Development Bank Chairman Abay Sarkulov. The meetings focused on cooperation activities between Kazakhstan and Turkish SMEs.

History of Cooperation

The cooperation activities of KOSGEB with Kazakhstan started with the Memorandum of Understanding signed with DAMU in 2011. The efforts to develop commercial cooperation between the SMEs of the two countries were carried forward to an advanced stage with the action plan that was signed on 12 September 2018 in Ankara. Action Plan between KOSGEB and DAMU signed at Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev’s official visit to Turkey at the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. In December 2018, an expert exchange program was organized for 2 personnel assigned by DAMU.

The action plan for cooperation between and in the field of SMEs that is signed by President of KOSGEB Prof. Dr. Cevahir Uzkurt and DAMU CEO Abay Sarkulov consists of:

The creation of a working group between the two institutions, the determination of sectoral areas where there is high cooperation potential between SMEs in Kazakhstan and Turkey, sharing of experience and information between the two institutions about implemented programs in order to increase the efficiency of the service, expert exchanges between the two institutions, the organization of B2B activities and SME information days and sharing of information on investment opportunities and organizing of events for his purpose.
